This locality is located at 32 kilometres from the City of Córdoba. It was once one of the most promising tourist attractions of the Province around the middle of the 20th century, when movie stars and many other characters from the show biz used to come, as the actress Mirtha Legrand and her sister, or the famous song interpreter Ada Falcón.

Its main richness is nature, which becomes available through long walks or by the practice of mountain biking. Horseback riding is not a very good option within the core of the Town, due to the large amounts of vehicles during high seasons.

One of the most attractive places to visit is El Mirador, from where the visitor will get a beautiful panoramic view of Salsipuedes and its surroundings, being even possible, on bright sunny days, to catch glimpses of the Capital City of Córdoba. This faraway City can also be glanced from the mountain across which the Güemes Street crawls, beside the local schools and the Virgen de Itatí Cave.

Salsipuedes lays encrusted in the first skirts of the Sierras Chicas Mountain Ridge, whose altitudes are under 600 metres above sea level; coming by the Provincial Route N° 53 between Córdoba and Ascochinga, belonging to the District of Río Ceballos.

-22 kilometres from the International Airport of Taravella (mostly known as Pajas Blancas)
-It stands at an average altitude above sea level of 685 metres.

It has a clearly Mediterranean weather, mild and dry, and no strong winds.

It has an average temperature of 16°C in winter time and of 30°C during summer. Rain yearly averages are between 500 and 600 cubic centimetres. (According to other reports, the average temperature during winter is of 12°C and they rarely exceed the mark of 26°C during summertime, presenting rain volumes which range between 850 and 950 cubic millimetres).

During summer the weather is very delightful, alternating between refreshing nights and not to high temperatures during the daytime, indeed one of the main tourist-attracting reasons, if only to spend the day, for there are no lodging infrastructure with which to "capture" visitors. These weather conditions are also renowned to have healing properties, mostly recommended for cleansing the body as well as a calming balm for the nervous system.

The Salsipuedes River
This is the typical mountain river, flowing low during the winter, when the rains over the highlands remain scarce, and rising its volumes of water with the arrival of spring and summer.

The sources of this River have their origins at the eastern skirts of the Sierras Chicas, near the path known as 'El Cuadrado' (the Square), which connects Salsipuedes with La Falda. These streams are created from natural springs and existent rain drains. Along its path it forms several natural bathing beaches which were slowly shaped through the decades by the course of the waters.

As passing through the locality of La Estancita it produces a waterfall which downpours from nearly 13 metres, thus creating the so called "Salto de la Estancita".

The stream continues flowing down framed by tourist settlements which have taken advantage of the natural pools within the riverbed building small containing dams, as is "Bello Horizonte", with its campsite furnished with all kinds of commodities, as well as "Villa Las Selvas" and "Villa Los Altos". While leaving Salsipuedes, the road becomes framed by a thick tree grove, which extends alongside the municipal road that connects the mentioned beach resorts and which lately runs at the sides of the road that winds from La Falda across "El Cuadrado".

The crossing of the Salsipuedes River is done through the Municipal Beach Resort, which contains a beautiful natural pond and giving birth to the Salsipuedes Park. Further on, the river continues its downward course and meets the natural ponds of Villa Silvina and San Miguel, still across urban areas, which are strewn with mansions surrounded by green fields and woods. Keeping this downstream direction, it will come across the Santo Domingo Ranch where it gives birth to a large lagoon known with the name of "La Estancia" or "Santo Domingo".

On regular times, the river disappears among the sands that surround the El Carmen Ranch at the neighbourhood of the locality of Juárez Célman. It carries uneven volumes of water throughout the year. During times of intense droughts it disappears into the ground before reaching the Town, continuing to flow underground to appear again after passing Juarrez Célman, making it a distrustful source of water for the locality. During the times of the great rains, the river finds its way across the City, continues through the National Route 9 an then runs into the currents of the Primero River in the vicinity of Monte Cristo.

What to Visit

Iglesia Parroquial Nuestra Señora del Rosario del Milagro - Parochial Church
This Church, located at the centre of Salsipuedes, shows a simple and austere architecture, enhances the natural landscape of the highlands and puts a speck of emotion to the scenery.

The present Chapel, built over the remains of a latter one from 1828, was built in 1870, its belfry belongs to 1876 and acquired its final form in the year of 1909.

Since long ago, on every first Sunday of October takes place the main festivities of Nuestra Señora del Rosario del Milagro, Patroness of the Town, with a parade that goes by the streets of the town and a bustling popular party at the end of the Holy Mass, even though these holidays are considered rather to extend from September the 26th to October the 6th.

Villa Silvina

Gruta Virgen de Itatí - Cavern
This cave differs from any other because its originality consists in the promise of the fulfilment of every desire made by the devotees if the previous vow of planting a tree is accomplished. This curious fact has produced a botanical garden containing many species of trees. It can be found at one of the sides of the mountain, framed by the Salsipuedes River.

It is located inside of the Villa Silvina, at 800 metres from Route 53. It can be reached walking from Salsipuedes following the course of the river. It is not allowed to come wearing bathing suits.

Balneario Villa Silvina - Beach Resort
This resort is located downriver, nearby the Itatí Cavern.

Mirador de Villa Silvina - Viewing Point

This place is located over a 30 metre high concrete structure, which was originally built at the top of a hill as a reservoir in order to provide the Town with potable water. Its elevated situation makes it a perfect location to catch some gorgeous sights of the surrounding landscape. From this point can be seen the City of Cordoba, Jesús María and the small Lagoon of Santo Domingo (called Ministaló in the indigene tongue), as well as a spectacular view of the Village itself.

El Pueblito - The Small Town

Gruta Virgen del Valle - Cavern
This Cave, along with its pair of Itatí and the Chapel of Salsipuedes, completes a trilogy of a kind. It is situated at the top of the mountain at whose feet lays "El Pueblito". Its popularity is also based in the yearly night procession with torches that starts at the Church in the valley and climbs to the cavern at the top of the mountain, followed by all the worshippers of the 'Virgen Morena'.

Balneario El Parque - Beach Resort
This beach resort is located at the centre of the Village and is equipped with barbecue grills, tables, stools, tennis courts, games for children, sanitary services, a general store and a bar.

Bello Horizonte Beach Resort and Campsite
It is located two kilometres outside the Village, at the left margin of the Road to El Cuadrado and over the Salsipuedes River.

Villa Los Altos Beach Resort
This river-beach has a private swimming pool (the 'Piantino'), coffee shop, sanitary services with showers, a solarium and many other attractions.

El Museode las Abejas - the Museum of Bees
This Museum is a single-man work done by its proprietor mister Eduardo Gaitán, a beekeeper that chose this place to create a museum whose main topic are bees. The place has been considered of Municipal interest.

La Estancita
This ancient Villa, bursting with stories and legends, is situated at a close distance from El Salto, it contains an old Chapel erected on behalf of the Virgen de la Candelaria, built by Dominican monks for their spiritual seclusions, with a Via Crucis whose stations are drawn at the sides of a narrow path that spirals up to the mountaintop.

Its Patron Saint holidays are celebrated every February the 2nd, comprising many festivities that end with the recreation of the Via Crucis.

The original tongue of this region was called the Citonsacate.

Salto de La Estancita - Waterfall
This 11 (or 13) metres high water jump over the Salsipuedes River is located at 11 kilometres from the Villa, being accessed through the road to El Cuadrado that connects Salsipuedes with the Town of La Falda. It is an easy trip that can be mostly made on a motor vehicle.
