(According to other reports, the average temperature during winter is of 12°C and they rarely exceed the mark of 26°C during summertime, presenting rain volumes which range between 850 and 950 cubic millimetres).
During summer the weather is very delightful, alternating between refreshing nights and not to high temperatures during the daytime, indeed one of the main tourist-attracting reasons, if only to spend the day, for there are no lodging infrastructure with which to "capture" visitors. These weather conditions are also renowned to have healing properties, mostly recommended for cleansing the body as well as a calming balm for the nervous system.
The Salsipuedes River
This is the typical mountain river, flowing low during the winter, when the rains over the highlands remain scarce, and rising its volumes of water with the arrival of spring and summer.
The sources of this River have their origins at the eastern skirts of the Sierras Chicas, near the path known as 'El Cuadrado' (the Square), which connects Salsipuedes with La Falda. These streams are created from natural springs and existent rain drains. Along its path it forms several natural bathing beaches which were slowly shaped through the decades by the course of the waters.
As passing through the locality of La Estancita it produces a waterfall which downpours from nearly 13 metres, thus creating the so called "Salto de la Estancita".
The stream continues flowing down framed by tourist settlements which have taken advantage of the natural pools within the riverbed building small containing dams, as is "Bello Horizonte", with its campsite furnished with all kinds of commodities, as well as "Villa Las Selvas" and "Villa Los Altos". While leaving Salsipuedes, the road becomes framed by a thick tree grove, which extends alongside the municipal road that connects the mentioned beach resorts and which lately runs at the sides of the road that winds from La Falda across "El Cuadrado".
The crossing of the Salsipuedes River is done through the Municipal Beach Resort, which contains a beautiful natural pond and giving birth to the Salsipuedes Park. Further on, the river continues its downward course and meets the natural ponds of Villa Silvina and San Miguel, still across urban areas, which are strewn with mansions surrounded by green fields and woods. Keeping this downstream direction, it will come across the Santo Domingo Ranch where it gives birth to a large lagoon known with the name of "La Estancia" or "Santo Domingo".
On regular times, the river disappears among the sands that surround the El Carmen Ranch at the neighbourhood of the locality of Juárez Célman. It carries uneven volumes of water throughout the year. During times of intense droughts it disappears into the ground before reaching the Town, continuing to flow underground to appear again after passing Juarrez Célman, making it a distrustful source of water for the locality. During the times of the great rains, the river finds its way across the City, continues through the National Route 9 an then runs into the currents of the Primero River in the vicinity of Monte Cristo.
