CORDOBA
VILLA ALLENDE
This is a pulsating city of the Sierras Chicas which, in spite of its nearness to the City of Córdoba -the most and best developed area of the Capital- has managed to maintain a distinctive style characterised by the tranquillity and peace of a beautiful natural landscape, speckled by luxurious mansions and summer residences. The Village presents several recreational alternatives along with a golf course of international renown and plenty lodging facilities.
It has acquired some recognition due to its nocturnal life, but Villa Allende has also a municipal beach resort and a municipal amphitheatre where every year, during February, takes place the Festival de la Solidaridad. This event has turned to be one of the most important musical happenings of the region. It brings together many renowned groups and performers, which bring in their yearly contribution to the folklore of the Country. The funds raised are directed to cover the needs of intermediate institutions, such as schools, hospitals, etc.
Around Villa Allende stand the mountains of the Sierras Chicas, which bring a very distinctive touch to the Town. It is not a casual fact that the number of people searching for a better quality of life who come to settle here increases by the year. The traveller cannot leave Villa Allende without visiting the Convent of San Alfonso from the 17th century and the Church of Nuestra Señora del Carmen.
Furthermore, during the month of July, the visitor will be able to enjoy the tournaments of cross country bicycles and the 'Agosto Sanmartiniano Gaucho' during August. In December takes place the 'Encuentro Nacional de Escultores de Madera' or the 'National Contest of Wood Carvers', a contest of national relevance where the best sculptors of the Country arrive to show their prowess
.
The Village has a mall with several galleries and attractions, where the visitor will be able to obtain souvenirs and typical items from the region.
