EXCURSIONS
At the Centre
The Suspended Bridge can be found at the intersection of Guemes and the Costanera Avenue, a pathway dangling over the Santa Rosa River in order to allow pedestrian circulation through it, connecting the centre of the Town with the Villa Satarelli. As we walk across it, a panoramic sight of the river will materialise. From this point on, going by the Mendoza Street, the tourist will come upon the former local of the Club Sportivo Social, continuing then by the Main Street to close this small tour at the presence of the monument to the Mother.
El Balcon
Starting at the Attention of the Tourist Centre located at number13 Guemes Street and passing by the monument to the Mother, we will reach Provincial Route 5. From this point on the road continues its way up the mountain until reaching its summit. A balcony located at this high place will provide an impressive view of the valley, enabling the traveller's sight to catch glimpses of other neighbouring localities.
Museum of Religious Art and the "Capilla Vieja" Community Centre.
This place is located at the Libertad Street, between Centenario and Juana de Fernandez Streets. The building was originally erected with 44 by 20 centimetre bricks in the year of 1784. Its structure presented a central body, two belfries, two confessionaries and two sacristies at each side of its central nave each one with their respective pulpits.
The Chapel went through several modifications along the times, until in 1877 Estanislao Baños accomplished what is its present day gothic appearance.
It contains a number of ancient images, among which we can mention those of Nuestra Señora de Dolores, Nuestra Señora del Carmen and Santa Rosa de Lima. Some of them bear the peculiarity of being of a kind called 'chandelier', which means it is composed by a head, articulated arms and a framework body, which is dressed up accordingly to each festivity. There is also a 1.35 metre high carved-wood image of Christ done by the Jesuits circa the late 17th century; there are other wood carvings, as the one portraying a 'Niño Dios' and another from Santa Barbara 85 centimetres high, both of which belong to the past century.
On August 29th of 1997, the chapel was refurbished and inaugurated with the name of Museum of Religious Art "Santa Rosa de Lima". The lot within which it stands is known as the "Communitarian Centre", which was handed over to the community for recreational, social and cultural purposes.
