Villa General Belgrano is one of the principal tourist centres of Cordoba. Located 750 kilometres northwest from the City of Buenos Aires at the core of the Calamuchita Valley and over Provincial Route 5, it stands between the cities of Cordoba (90 kilometres to the North) and Rio Cuarto (150 kilometres to the South).

This is a privileged place inhabited by some 5,000 souls, which acquired international renown due to the Central-European style of its buildings, its handsome gardens and flowering boulevards, its traditional gastronomy and its crowding festivities as that of Misa Vienesa that takes place during the Holy Week, or that of the Chocolate Alpino during winter holidays. Its ample lodging infrastructure, its restaurants and tea houses, induce the visitor to feel as if actually being in a picturesque alpine village.

Among its main recreational activities outstand the walks by the Mirador and La Virgen Mountains, suitable for those not accustomed to taking mountain hikes, the boat trips by the Reartes River, strewn with rapids and beaches through all of its extension and surrounded by marvellous landscapes as the Intiyaco and Los Reartes, an ancient village which contains some incredibly well-preserved adobe buildings.

Fishing on rivers and lakes is one of the most favoured activities, not only among tourists, but to a great number of its inhabitants, which use to go to the shores hoping to catch some of the trout and atherine fish swarming in these waters..

The Viennese Autumn and the Easter Holydays
Another attraction of the Villa is the Viennese Autumn season, with its natural sceneries showing off its full-colour palette, ranging between the ochre stained foliage of the trees and the evergreen shrubbery that grows at ground level, arranging a colourful frame for strolling by the paths along the streams or across the sierras. During the Easter Holydays, on Holy Friday -and repeated on Saturday- the 'Ecos de Tradición' Ballet performs the Via Crucis with traditional music of Argentina (as the Creole Mass), chorographical dances and enacting religious passages.

On Sunday takes place the search for Easter Eggs, mustering lots of little children who are impatient to find the hidden eggs laid by, as the story tells, a she-rabbit.

The Beer Festival
The National Beer Festival originally took place at the central square of Villa General Belgrano, called Plaza José Hernández. Lately, in the year of 1996, it was relocated within a specially designed lot, called Parque Cervecero.

Parade
This is a traditional parade that takes place every year along the streets at the centre of the town, with chariots, dance schools, music bands, traditional dresses and the curious parading of schnauzer dogs, which bestows another attraction to this peculiar Argentinean Oktoberfest.

El Espiche
This is a ceremony that consists on making visitors to drink through a wooden straw previously drawn into a barrel full of beer. The most important breweries of the Country simultaneously participate in this particular Oktoberfest, of which the Espiche constitutes not a small part. This activity sets the beginning of the festivities in Villa General Belgrano.
