CLAVERO MINE
In the present days, Mina Clavero is the main tourist centre in Traslasierra Valley. It comprises some 14.000 hosting spaces for visitors, half of which are distributed within rental houses and the remaining half is covered by hotels, huts, hostelries and camping sites.
The cold, golden and crystal clear waters of the Mina Clavero River, which come tumbling from the Altas Cumbres, passes through the City and invites the traveller to seek for a relaxing swim in its sand filled river beach resorts. At the centre of the City lays the main dam with its sandy beaches and grass fields at its eastern shorefront.
Just a few blocks away from this location, the meeting of the Mina Clavero River and the southbound Panaholma River with its warm waters takes place. Whence both streams bond with each other, they give birth to the Los Sauces River, which flows into the reservoir created by the Ing. A. Medina Allende Dike (formerly known as the La Viña Dike) with its 106 metre high dam wall.
Starting from this locality, there are many recreational activities to perform, ranging from simple strolls and horse rides to the bold adventure tourism, including tours that will explore the Sierra's geography aboard appropriately fit vehicles (4WD), with the aim set on conquering all the hindrances of the road.
Flights on paraglide, climbing a number of peaks, mountain biking or trekking for the boldest, golfing in nearby fields, fishing trout in a high mountain river or atherines in the lake, are the reasons this scenario is preferred by action-lover tourists.
If you are fond for handicrafts, we encourage you to travel by the so called 'Ruta de los Artesanos' by the old road of the Altas Cumbres. Our men and women, dedicated to the art of hand working materials as clay, wood, textile fibres, and others, are most enthusiastic in showing you the forms obtained from their imagination, standing out those pieces of black clay pottery.

During daytime, Mina Clavero offers its beautiful beaches, some nearer to the centre of the City than others, at the margins of the Panaholma and Mina Clavero Rivers. Among the better known we can mention those at the centre of Mina Clavero: Nido del Águila, Las Maravillas and Quebrada del Toro Muerto.
From this locality many tourist circuits and expeditions can be taken, either to the South or to the northern side of the Valley, as well as visiting different kinds of museums, travel the road of the artisans between Mina Clavero and Villa Benegas, make a visit to a farm or an iguana hatchery. It will also be possible to practise any of the many alternatives of adventure tours, as horse riding, walks, off-road biking, excursions on four wheel drive vehicles, taking flights from the airfield on motor powered delta-wing aircrafts, going trout or atherine fishing, and a long etcetera.
When the sun comes down, Mina Clavero turns into the great nocturnal centre of all of the Traslasierra Valley. The San Martín Avenue turn out to be exclusively for pedestrian use and becomes the forceful meeting place for both youngsters and grown ups. After having a good meal in any of the scores of restaurants aligned alongside this road and its surroundings, they can have some fun in a pub or discotheque, in musical or cultural performing or to go and gamble their money at the bingo or the casino.
