Located at a distance of 130 kilometres from the City of Cordoba and 860 kilometres from the Federal Capital, Sierras Grandes is a place where you would be able to enjoy its clear skies and its fresh rivers and streams. This is a place where the sun shines through all year long, and the clear waters of its river invite you to enjoy them at every moment.
The name Nono comes from the Quechua word 'Ñuño' which means "indian maiden's breasts", rightfully named after the two mountains that rise at the West side of the Town, across the Los Sauces River.
It is the most ancient indigene Town in the Traslasierra Valley and it is situated at only 8 kilometres from Mina Clavero. The Los Sauces River, flowing nearby, washes the sand beaches giving birth to some excellent beach resorts before arriving to the rear end of the Medina Allende Dam. The area is well supplied with an assortment of hotels, hostelries, cabins and camping sites to bring the traveller the best service and attention.
What to Visit
River beaches and recreational sites at Chico de Nono River.
With its iodized, warm and plentiful waters, its beautiful whirlpools and quiet pools, this is a perfect place in which to practise fishing, camping and trekking. On the shores of the Chico de Nono River is located the river beach Paso de las Tropas, with its sand and pebbles terrain, wherein the crystalline waters of its quiet pools, the visitor can take quite a pleasant bath.
Costanera del Río de Los Sauces
With a wide river bed, large river beaches of finely grained sand and warm waters. Camp site and beach.
Los Remansos
This beach is located at two kilometres distance from the Town, at the margins of the Chico de Nono River. It is a perfect place to spend the day in contact with nature. There are many shady places in which to make picnic.

Paso de las Tropas
At 6 kilometres from the centre of Nono, at the shores of the Chico River and nearby the locality of Las Calles. Due to its location at the skirts of the Sierras, this is a beach surrounded by nature and charm. Through these place the troops of General Paz crossed the mountains in 1830 during one of their campaigns against the federal forces of Quiroga, known as "El Tigre de los Llanos" or "The Tiger of the Flatlands".

Museo Polifacético Rocsen
This museum is located 5 kilometres outside the Town.
Its exhibition contains more than 15.000 objects brought from many different places, classified in 43 issues and shown in original and didactic displays in each of its seven halls. The Rocsen Museum ("Saint Rock") takes the shape of a labyrinth that enables its visitors to experience the history of mankind through the varied collections it takes in..
It opened to public on January the 6th of 1969 and has since been uninterruptedly functioning for 365 days a year from 9:00 am to sunset. It is a Frenchman collector's dream come true, with men as its main subject. The museum has acquired international renown.
The entrance portico shows 49 statues laboured by this French guy depicting historical characters, starting with the pre-historic man, going through Christ at the centre to end up with Martin Luther King at the opposite end.
For geology and palaeontology lovers there is a collection of more than 2.000 minerals and 4.000 fossil sampling a wide time span. And there is plenty more to see: wheels, chariots, bikes, cars, weaponry, suits, fabrics and iconographies, among thousands of pieces that will lead the visitor according to his own interests through the different paths of this collection universe.
This amazing multi-faceted museum is a forceful visit for those who arrive to the charming Valley of Traslasierra.

Los Nonos
One can reach Los Nonos either by walking or on horseback. A permit is needed to enter because they are located inside private property. These mountains are part of the Sierras de Altautina Mountain Range, and its original name "Ñu Ñu" gives birth to the name of the close by town.
El Huaico
It is located at the skirts of the Sierras Grandes. There are species of plants typical of the region, within which are many medicinal herbs. This is an excellent place for bird watching. Jotes and puna hawks are a common sight.
Several artisans dwell in this area, making, among other things, basketwork and wines. It is also renowned for being a place chosen by nature, a secluded area only accessible through long horse rides.
