Villa Cura Brochero also has a great number of campsites, strewn at the shores of its large coastlines over the Ponahoma and Los Sauces Rivers.
Besides its rivers, streams and beaches, Villa Cura Brochero and its surroundings puts forward a multiplicity of activities in open spaces, from which stand out mountain biking, horseback riding and fishing.
Gastronomy
This is a special asset of Cura Brochero: its respect for traditionally made food. Its restaurants, simple and full of small-village taste, cherish as a prized treasure their ageless family recipes for the preparation of those exquisite home made food and tasty regional dishes.
Traditional sweets deserve a chapter apart: the pastries and the alfajor are two of the most traditional desserts of the Valley of Traslasierra, sweetening the days for the visitor since the early times of the past century along with the siesta by the river and the rounds of mate infusions.
By night time, and specially on summer time, people gathers around the Centenario Square, where artisans arriving from different places exhibit their works, and where local or occasional invited singers turn the gathering into an improvised dance.
As an additional asset to the entertainment offer proper, the visitor has the chance of going to the casino, the theatre halls, the cinemas and the discotheques at the neighbouring locality of Mina Clavero.
The 'Casa de Ejercicios Espirituales' (House of Spiritual Exercises), declared as a National Historical Monument, is the present seat to the Museo Brocheriano Museum and the Santuario de Nuestra Señora del Tránsito, the resting place for the mortal remains of the Cura Brochero priest.
In the near vicinity stands the house where he passed away in the year of 1914, nowadays a constituting part of the historical tour to be taken around the Village, as well as the 'Chiflón Grande' aqueduct, constructed in 1882 and the Agua de Chavez water intake or little irrigation reservoir.
Calendar
A special attention deserve the Christmas Holydays at Cura Brochero in December; the Week of Cura Brochero between the 19th and the 26th of January; the 'Fiesta del Pastelitero' in the month of February and the 'Cabalgata de Fe' (Horse Ride of Faith) to cross the Sierras Grandes on horseback during March.
