BACK TO ARGENTINA VACATION GUIDE
CLIMATE
Due to its geographical location, this province's temperature goes down towards the south. For this reason it contains two climate zones: a sub-tropical area without a dry season, and another warm area.
The former affects the "departamentos" (districts) of Federacion, Feliciano, Federal and the north of La Paz. Winters are mild and average summer temperatures are above 26º Celsius. The average annual temperature is 20º C. Rainfall exceeds 1,000 mm a year, and the prevailing winds are from the north, east and northeast.
The second climate zone covers the rest of provincial territory. Here winter temperatures range from 7° to 10º C and summer ones from 19º C to 23º C. The predominant winds are from the south, southeast, northeast and the "pampero" (southwest). Average rainfall is less than 1,000 mm a year.
WHAT TO PACK
Light clothing is recommended for the daytime and jackets or cardigans for the usually cooler mornings and evenings. Remember mosquito repellent, sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses.
HEALTH
There are no endemic diseases in this area, so no special vaccines are required for entry.
Argentina is free of foot and mouth disease, so beef can be safely eaten.
Shellfish consumption is seasonally restricted by the "red tide", whose occasional presence is published in the media.
Argentina has an important network of hospitals, clinics and sanitary posts throughout its territory, most with emergency services. The hospitals in the main cities can deal with high-complexity cases, while treatment is basic in nature in the remote villages.
WATER
All the Argentine cities that appear on your itinerary have drinking water treatment plants. However, to avoid any kind of problem, we recommend you drink bottled water, especially when visiting remote attractions.
TRADITIONAL GASTRONOMY
The central area of the province is the habitat of partridges, ñandu (lesser rhea) and vizcacha, and as from the Spanish conquest became "the" place for succulent barbecues. Its most typical dishes are chanfaina, carbonada, and caldo de pata, among others. There is a wide range of desserts including a variety of sweet preserves, alfajores, pastelitos, bollos, etc.
IMPORTANT
We reserve the right to make changes to the order of the trip, without prior notice, due to changes in climate conditions, river water levels, flight or bus arrival and departure times or any other reason relevant to the best development of the trip.
