IGUAZU FALLS
OBSERVING THE FALLS
The Falls can be admired, basically, along two circuits:
The Lower Circuit: or starting from the foot of
the falls. This is 1,600 meters in length. Once he arrives at the base of the falls, the spray and water vapor produced by the force of the fall wet the visitor. But this experience is unique and the adventure is well worthwhile. One of the advantages it offers is that the tourist is transported to San Martin Island (transport
cost included in park entry ticket).
The Upper Circuit: or from above. This walk is
1,200 meters long, and is a more relaxed one. The panoramic views from the walkways and the look-out points make it an unforgettable experience. Part of the itinerary, leaving from Cataratas station, is along the walkway that crosses the upper river. This takes the
visitor to the edge of the balcony over the Devil's Throat, the largest of the waterfalls.
From the visitors' center, the pathways can be taken on foot, or there is an option of boarding a picturesque natural-gas-powered train.
ACTIVITIES
Below this unforgettable display of wonders on the Upper Circuit, exciting boat trips can be made on launches or rubber rafts. Photo safaris and dorado fishing, or walks along the pathways to admire the variety of fauna in the subtropical rainforest are other possibilities.
A special spectacle is the visit to the most spectacular fall of all:
The Devil's Throat.
Its numerous individual falls form a semicircle 200 meters wide and 90 in height, where the noise of the falling water and the vapor produced by it provide an atmosphere of mystery that is impossible to describe in words. Leaving from Puerto Canoas, this can be enjoyed in its full majesty from less than 50 meters away.
