Three years ago the area surrounding the marvelous Iguazu Waterfalls system became a modern, thriving tourist center. The company running it remodeled it in this way:
VISITORS CENTER
This has a information office with an audiovisual theater; a first aid room, a museum of the regional fauna, flora, anthropology and history; specialist guide services; photographers and video operators to accompany visitors on their safaris.
In the Center there are also restaurants, bars, stores selling photographic materials and regional articles, a commercial mall, telephones and public restrooms. And there is a terminal of the Transcataratas bus company.
The road for vehicles going to the Falls ends a few meters from the entertainment facilities mentioned above, in a large parking lot where you can get information, make purchases, eat and hire programmed walks.
INSTITUTIONAL AREA
Access Control: this is an entrance designed to blend with the forest landscape and at the same time providing a box office to pay the Park entrance fee.
Access and parking lots: the main access to the Park is along four lanes with a good system of barriers and sign-posting. There is parking space for 200 buses, and another for 750 automobiles.
The Falls Gate: the entrance gate offers the necessary facilities for the visitors to begin to live a unique experience. There is a luggage deposit, the tourist guide services, and all the information necessary to enjoy the visit.
Main Square and Amphitheater: a space created for relaxing, contemplating nature, and for educational events. The square is bounded by a perimeter path, partially covered by a pergola that leads up to an amphitheater with seats for 600 people.
