There are protected areas on both sides. On the Argentine side is the 1,000 hectare Mocona Provincial Park; on the Brazilian side is Do Iurvo Forest Park, 40,600 hectares with an indigenous reserve.
On the Argentine side, near El Soberbio - a settlement where essences are produced, in the midst of a harsh landscape of hills and forest, in which Guarani people still live and maintain their language and customs - can be seen the imposing Great Mocona Waterfall (in Guarani language, "he who swallows everything"), on the river Uruguay. This is the dividing line between Argentina and Brazil. Access is from El Soberbio, by land (70 kilometers in a 4WD vehicle) and by water (the recommended access, taking eight hours).
