JUJUY
FRAILE PINTADO
At 91 kilometres away from San Salvador de Jujuy, over the southern banks of the Rio Ledesma river, a small town dedicated to the growing of sugarcane and vegetables appears before the eyes of the traveller: Fraile Pintado.
Due to the tomato farms standing on the area, it was also known as the Ciudad Tomatera. It emerged as such in 1859 with the establishment of the La Reducción farm.
It has grill and camping services and can be visited all year round. Sport fishing, trekking, biking paths, four wheel drive routes, photo safaris, flora and fauna observation, horse riding and agro tourist excursions are some of the activities offered to those who choose to visit it.
