BY LAND
Jujuy has paved roads stretching out for 1007 kilometres, distributed between the National and the Provincial network. It also has many dirt and unpaved roads, as well as mountain roads that will take you to the hidden corners of the Province.
BY CAR
You can reach Jujuy travelling on the Rutas Nacionales Nº 9 and Nº 34. The first one connects the Argentinean capital Buenos Aires to La Quiaca, and crosses cities like Rosario de Santa. Fe, Córdoba, Tucumán, Ciudad de Salta, San Salvador de Jujuy, Tilcara and Humahuaca.
National Route 34 starts out in the city of Rosario, passes through Santiago del Estero, Tucumán, General Güemes (Salta), San Pedro de Jujuy, Libertador General San Martín, and ends up in the town of Profesor Salvador Mazza (Salta).
The National Route - Ruta Nacional Nº 40 (the longest in the country: 4667 kilometres.), is another means of access, although less often used. This route connects the cities of Abra Pampa (Jujuy) and Río Gallegos (Santa Cruz). It runs through the western part of Argentina passing through some of the following cities: San Antonio de los Cobres (End of the Cloud Train -Tren de las Nubes line), Cafayate, Tucumán, San Juan, Mendoza, San Martín de los Andes, Esquel and El Calafate.
BY BUS
By bus, from the Federal capital Buenos Aires to Jujuy, or vice versa, the trip takes approximately 20 hours to travel the 1654 kilometres that separate both cities.
In accordance with its importance as a tourist destination, Jujuy has a bus terminal where buses arrive and leave on a daily basis to all the country, including local lines to different parts of the Province itself.
There are also international bus lines that connect the province with northern Chile (824 kilometres to Antofagasta and 1008 kilometres to Iquique).

International Border Crossings
In the Province of Jujuy there are two border crossings, one connecting to Chile and the other to Bolivia.
The Paso de Jama crossing allows one to reach Jujuy from the Pacific Ocean, through Chile. The Paso de Jama is located at 4230 m.a.s.l in the Andean mountains.
The Paso La Quiaca, which connects the city of La Quiaca (Argentina) with Villazón (Bolivia) through National Route - Ruta Nacional Nº 9, is crossing a bridge over the Río Sococha River. It is the only authorised border crossing with customs offices and migration, and is located 293 kilometres from San Salvador de Jujuy.

- The highest point on the road network is at the Laguna de Pozuelos Lake: 4320 m.a.s.l.
