There are several alternatives to reach Ciudad de Mendoza. The main access roads are the Ruta Nacional Nº 7 National Route and the Nº 40. However, it depends on where the traveller is coming from; but wherever that may be, there will always be an adequate and efficient way to get there.

From Ciudad de Buenos Aires, the exit way is always the same: From Avenida General Paz through Acesso Oeste Western Access Road, towards the Ciudad de Luján. Continuing down this route, which will later become the Ruta Nacional Nº 7 National Route, and after travelling 1050 kilometres one reaches the Province of Mendoza's Capital City.

The entrance is through the Arco de Desaguadero, in the La Paz department, and there begins the road throughout the Region of the Lands with History, including, besides La Paz, the Santa Rosa, Junín, Rivadavia and San Martín Departments.

Through the same Ruta Nacional Nº 7, the Ruta Nacional Nº 188 is crossed at the Junín point (Buenos Aires Province). This road leads travellers directly south of the Provincia de Mendoza, the so-called Región del Nevado, which includes the General Alvear, San Rafael and Malargüe departments.

Coming from the southern part of the country, the Ruta Nacional Nº 151 National Route links Ciudad de Neuquén with Santa Isabel, in the Province of La Pampa, and from there the General Alvear Department is entered through the Ruta Nacional Nº 143 National Route.
