SALTA
NATURE
Nature gave Salta everything. Its infinite generosity is impregnated on the rich and diverse ecosystems that the three National Parks held on its territory take charge of showing to the world.
Every thing that can live and exist between the dense and tropical forest, and the landscape with heights over five thousand meters above sea level, is naturally posed as a living diorama waiting to be admired at the Baritú, El Rey and Los Cardones National Parks.
A variety of birds can be watched on this vast and protected areas, from the great Andean condor, gliding gently through the high Andean mountains, to the toucans, the so called yungeros, tangarás and woodpeckers, and finally down to the minute 7 centimetre long midget hummingbird; among other simple and exotic birds which are the delight of bird-watching lovers.
In the Andean high plains, travellers will encounter rheas sharing the land with cameloids, vicuñas, guanacos and a few cats. Flamingos fly over the lake landscape while ducks and plovers swim below. Luckily enough, as long as they live in this protected areas, the tapirs and jaguars, among other endangered species, won't become extinct.
Streams, brooks, cascades, rivers and lakes provide particular moisture to each scenery. Gigantic ferns, a variety of trees with trunks of amazing diameters, and rearing cacti, back up and support the unbeatable panorama in front of the travellers eyes by the marvellous Salta National Parks.
