SANTA ANITA RANCH
To milk cows, elaborate homemade cheese and bread, watch the cultivation of medicinal plants, the handling of the Peruvian Pace Horse and the Californian worms, amongst other activities, are offered at the Santa Anita Ranch.
It is an old house from the late XIX century; and the main house, which worked as an inn for drovers moving their cattle from Guachipas up to Salta, now hosts tourists seeking to take part on activities and customs proper of the country way of life.
Setting off from here you can go on archaeological visits to the Caves of Ablomé, which house rock paintings, in the Cabra Corral Dike, or go on horseback rides to the surroundings. It is in a place called Piedras Moradas, in the Department of Coronel Moldes; an hour away from Salta and at five minutes from the Cabra Corral Dike.
EL BORDO DE LAS LANZAS
The historic legacy from the time when Salta was a colony of Spain, the walls of El Bordo de las Lanzas keep, is one of the main attractions of this big old house located in Campo Santo, at 60 kilometres from the capital of Salta.
The main ranch house was commissioned for Magdalena Goyechea de La Corte de Güemes, mother of General Martin Miguel de Güemes, hero of Argentine independence for his fierce defence of the northern border. This was one of the houses where Güemes drilled his men. Its property titles date back to 1609.
Archaeological remains found in the countryside, valuable books, centenarian documents and culinary recipes inherited by their ancestors are still kept in this old house. El Bordo de las Lanzas is also heir of a collection of colonial suites, religious carvings and paintings from the XVII and XVIII centuries, some coming from the Jesuitical Missions of Miraflores and Alto Peru. It hosts echoes of history and the struggle for independence.

EL MANANTIAL RANCH
