SAFETY IN ARGENTINA
The Federal Police serves on foot, in patrol cars and some times on horse. They dress in blue uniforms. The Naval Prefecture is in charge of the harbor zone, and use brown uniforms. Buenos Aires is, generally, a safe city, but it does not stop being a big city, reason why we suggest that you take the following precautions: In the city In general the Argentine cities are quite safe. In Buenos Aires for example it is possible to walk by the streets to high times of the night without any danger. Unfortunately, the economic crisis that has hit the country in the last years has affected the security in the country, thus it has become common that in public places beggars approach the tourists with much insistence and bad aspect requesting money, in this case the best thing is to try to ignore them and to change place.
Like measures of basic precaution, it is recommendable to try to go unnoticed, not to carry objects of value openly, to try to walk accompanied specially at night, to avoid the very dark places or with little concurrence, to take care of pockets and to put attention in cameras or purses that you carry, and in general to avoid risky situations.

Lately there has been an increase in armed robberies to houses, kidnappings in taxis, and assaults in the streets. In order to avoid this type of risk, pay attention to the vehicle which approaches, try to memorize the number plate, directly watch the driverr, and try to use only taxis of established companies of radiotaxi. The small cities or towns of Argentina are usually calmer, people are kind friendly to the tourists.
Hotels
Usually the hotels in Argentina are safe, even in the cities or towns of the interior of the republic the doors of the small hotels do not have locks. It is always a good idea to take the basic safety measures in the hotels, like for example leaving your documents or objects of value in the strong boxes. If you plan to stay in inns or economic hotels, where you must share the room with other people, pay the more attention than usual to your things.
Women traveling single
Although Argentina are a safe country, and the women can feel quite comfortable in a city like Buenos Aires, even so they can face risks. It is recommended that the women traveling single do not carry showy jewels or objects, nor dress very provocatively, and to be cautious at any moment. When acting surely and taking the basic security measures there should be no problemsm in Argentina.
